Ellen the New 4th Judge

Hate that there's 4 judges ... but LOVE Ellen. She's hilarious and will do a great job as the person who puts Simon in his place ... and she'll do it coherently, too! He has no chemistry with Kara (could anyone?) and Ellen and Simon have a good rapport - I've seen her interview him many times and it's quite funny.

True that she doesn't have music experience per se, but let's face it, do the ones who do provide any great earth-shattering advice? And she has the kind heart that Paula had, it'll be funny hearing her try to find something good to say after a train-wreck performance.

(Maybe she should have been the new host, instead of giving Ryan all those millions?)

I love Ellen! She is an "American Idol" fan and will do the show a world of good! I personally would love to see "SeaCrest" gone!!! But I think Ellen will be best served as a judge rather then a host. Go Ellen! She'll be happy to dance at her chair like Paula loved to! Poor Paula...they didn't come chasin' for her? Perhaps they lost her phone number...

I like Ellen; she's quirky and funny and will certainly bring a lot of laughs to the show.

However, I'm not sure if it's BEST having her as a judge.

Did anyone see her as guest judge on So You Think You Can Dance? She just made jokes and complimented everyone, even the ones who were awful. Yes, she was hilarious, but this shifted the focus away from the dancers and onto her. Also, she's a very influential woman, so I'm sure her opinion will be taken by many people who watch the show. And her opinion, unfortunately, isn't always based on talent (since she doesn't know much about singing or the music business).

Agree with your comments I like Ellen a lot . She is one of these people that just seems naturally nice and makes me want to be a better person. She can be hysterical-anyone seen her standup dvd-Here and Now and she was awkward on Dance as you say, but I think that was her just getting used to the format.. I did think she was dead on when Nigel panned a male dancer for his looks and she went on to praise him saying he was not cookie cutter and most people in Hollywood all looked the same. As for the girl who won and Nigel, the expert, loved I did not think she was as good as the one Nigel hated and Ellen liked and after all it is not the expert judges who decide it is we know nothings watching. Ellen also liked the country and western song that Adam Lambert sang and none of the judges liked. I was with her on that on as well and isn't she filling a space that previously was filled by a void.?

Ellen is a HUGE fan of the show...Paula was a HUGE fan of herself...how in the world could anyone take any constructive criticisms from Paula when what she said was a rambled jumble of incoherence? I am happy the show is brave enough to go in this direction. I thought Ellen proved herself as a judge on that dance show, and I look forward to her entertaining me on the Idol show...after all...it's not just about the singing...if it were, then Adam should have won...

Your probably right its just `country' -I used the phrase because I couldn't remember the singer-I think it was Johnny Cash-Ring of Fire. Thanks for keeping me up to date and more hip.

me too and me too! The producers aren't as daft as I thought (well, they seem to waffle back-and-forth with the daftness - I mean, why is Kara still there)? Randy can stay, cause now Ellen can make fun of him.
