My St. johns concert recap, 22nd show!

The show started a little late, the crowd was getting anxious. Their were these young girls behind us and they started chanting"we want Rex, we want Rex"
They hads signs too, very cute.

Finally the lights dimmed and everyone cheered, well, we had no idea who was comin on 1st either.
When Melissa came on stage, she was cheered by the crowd, but no one jumped to their feet.
She looked good, a little bigger than she was when she was on Idol, I like that shes not skinny, a good role model for teens today.
Now I am not a Mel fan so I cannot say much about what she sang, I am not familiar with her songs.
She did a fleetwood mac cover and Seals "kiss from a rose."
She got the biggest response from the crowd with "Alive" and "let it go." Some people even stood up and cheered and clapped. She seems like a nice girl, said she loved it here also.
She seemed rather uncomfortable, she kept fiddling with her clothes, pulling at her shirt.
She does have a good voice I have to say, however, I was not made a fan.
My youngest daughter tho has decided that she likes mel now, so she did get a new fan there.

Mel finished up , sang for maybe an hour or almost that.
She then said to welcome Rex and the crowd went mad.
then the lites came on and the roadies went about setting the stage for Rex.Took roughly 1/2 hour.
Then the lights went down and some music started playing, the crowd wnet to their feet, Rex came on to loads of cheers. The energy in the place was unbelievable.

He came out wearin a black hat, jeans, and black shirt.
He started off with "Break the silence" Unreal, he realy started off with a lot of energy. The crowd was just ecstatic. It was certainly clear who most people were there to see.
He sang Write it in lightning, bulletproof, turn the page.when he sang call your name, he mentioned his uncle and a friend who died in car accident. Then he mentioned his fan who passed away this week.

He talked alot to the crowd, very at ease. I saw a huge difference in this concert and the CD release.
He mentioned meeting Jim Cuddy in toronto.
I cant remeber now all the songs he did.He came back as an encore doing Ode to Newfoundland and got the crowd involved.Mel came on stage nd they did Rock City. He also did no sugar tonight.Rex interacted with the crowd a lot.it was unreal how much cheering there was.

sorry if this sounds choppy, but I am trying to remember things. He did change into his white hat part way through and the audience went crazy! Of course he looked like his usual gorgeous self.

I just wish I could explain better the feeling in the stadium when Rex was onstage. The energy in the building was magnificent, very exciting. Rex must feel so blessed to have that type of support, you could tell he was feeding off the crowd.

He should take away energy from this concert that will help him out as he continues performing...
